Appointments can be made with either Sister Ambler or Sister Wade for asthma and spirometry management.
The Child Health Clinic is held every Friday between 11.00 a.m. and 1.00 p.m. The health visitors, along with one of our GP's usually Dr. Jegede, run the clinic. Any well baby can attend, for weighing and general advice. We also perform 6 week check on new babies in this clinic.
There are two diabetic clinics held in the surgery every week. Dr. Kazi's clinic is held every Thursday afternoon between 2pm - 3.30pm. Mrs Diane Clarke, the senior receptionist, is responsible for the administration of these clinics. If you have any queries you should contact her at the surgery. Housebound diabetic are usually visited at home regularly be either Dr. Hinton or Dr. Kazi.
We offer an annual check up to any patient suffering from epilepsy. It gives patients an opportunity to air any problems they may be having and enables us to arrange blood, urine and other checks as may be appropriate. Please make an appointment with Sister Wade during her normal surgery hours.
The practice nurses are able to discuss and administer travel vaccinations according to the recommended schedules, which do alter from time to time. When travelling abroad it is worth while checking, some three months before the departure date, on the recommended vaccinations. It is then possible to plan an appropriate immunisation schedule.
We have a very high uptake indeed for all Childhood Vaccinations and we would ask you to make an appointment with the practice nurse for such immunisations as soon as the reminder card arrives. If you feel your child may be due for a vaccination and you have not received a reminder card, please feel free to discuss the situation with a practice nurse or any of the doctors.
Every winter special sessions are held to carry out Influenza Vaccinations. These vaccinations are free and available to anybody, but are especially recommended for the elderly and those with heart, lung, kidney, or diabetic problems.
Minor Surgery is done predominantly by Dr. Catlow or Dr. Jegede although the other doctors do minor surgical procedures from time to time. The main minor surgery session is on Wednesday afternoons between 2.30 p.m. and 3.30 p.m.
If you are thinking about stopping smoking, you may make an appointment with any of our doctors, who will refer you to a smoking cessation clinic. This will give you the opportunity to discuss on a one to one basis, ways of stopping smoking, withdrawal symptoms and ways to cope. The doctor can also offer items on prescription to aid with stopping. Anyone wishing to make use of this service should make an appointment with one of the doctors in the usual way.
The surgery now has a fully qualified Health Care Assistant. The Health Care Assistant works alongside the nurses and doctors in the surgery. The Health Care Assistant is trained in taking blood pressure, giving vitamin b12 injections, taking blood samples, height and weight and is currently training in other areas.
