The practice nurses are able to discuss and administer travel vaccinations according to the recommended schedules, which do alter from time to time. When travelling abroad it is worth while checking, some three months before the departure date, on the recommended vaccinations. It is then possible to plan an appropriate immunisation schedule.
We have a very high uptake indeed for all Childhood Vaccinations and we would ask you to make an appointment with the practice nurse for such immunisations as soon as the reminder card arrives. If you feel your child may be due for a vaccination and you have not received a reminder card, please feel free to discuss the situation with a practice nurse or any of the doctors.
Every winter special sessions are held to carry out Influenza Vaccinations. These vaccinations are free and available to anybody, but are especially recommended for the elderly and those with heart, lung, kidney, or diabetic problems.
Minor Surgery & Family Planning
Minor Surgery is done predominantly by Dr. Kazi & the Practice Nurse although the other doctors do minor surgical procedures from time to time. The main minor surgery session is on Friday mornings between 09.00a.m. – 11.00 a.m. No appointments can be made without first seeing the doctor in the usual way. Please Note: The day, time & doctor may change depending on staff availablility.
Family Planning Sessions are normally held on a Thursday from 14:00pm to 17:40pm, these are run by Jill Tattersley please contact the surgery to book an appointment.
Blood testing occurs as usual in the pathology department of the hospital Monday to Friday without an appointment.
However we do have pre booked phlebotomy appointments with our HCA’s during surgery hour’s . Please ring the surgery to make an appointment for this.
Ideally please allow 4-6 weeks before you travel as some vaccinations can take a few weeks to be fully effective.
It is also very important that a Travel Vaccination Questionnaire Form is completed and sent in to the surgery before an appointment is made, this gives the Nurse opportunity to decide appropriate Travel/Holiday Vaccinations needed for your destination of travel.
Please allow a couple of days from the surgery receiving your Questionnaire Form then book a ten minute appointment with the Nurse.
Please be aware you may find some vaccinations will incur a fee, in this case we will contact you first as payment will need to be made in full prior to your appointment for your vaccination.
